Somewhere in the Middle of Nowhere

While these hills and valleys are beautiful they can swallow you whole. That's a little poetic, but we really are in the middle of nowhere. We needed gas and found a small town oasis to get some.

It was honestly far from an oasis...it was borderline sketchy.

However, we are okay and almost to our final destination!!!

The Little Things

We've been driving the hills and valleys of Nebraska for a little while enjoying the beautiful scenery reminding ourselves what an amazing job God did creating it.

This picture was taken right after we passed the Oregon Trail. A few minutes later we reached Lewellen, NE to drop off Grandma Esther, we talked about memories of our families and the good times we had with them.

We finished our book not long after and held onto a lot of the phrases in the book. The character said this throughout the book

"And that was enough."

He would say this when things were good with no complaints about what it could be. We have took this to heart on this trip by wanting to take life more simply with grateful hearts.

We are feeling absolutely infinite...

Goodmorning Open-Road

The alarm went off at a rather abrupt suprise this morning at 7:00am Lincoln time. We woke up all smiles though...

We agreed we probably woke up so well because we are ecstatic about reaching our destination and will feel the effects of exhaustion later today. Our allergies are getting to us a little with the climate change. However, nothing can stop this crew especially with  some McDonald's breakfast...

This McDonald's was particularly special because it was in York, NE also known as The Big Ballon Town.

More scenery pictures to come!!

We Made it to Lincoln, NE

The last hour and a half drive was the hardest part of this trip so far. We were singing songs we didn't know the lyrics to and talking about things that had no relavance to our lives.

However, because of these things we made it here safely. As soon as we found a bed we were in it.

Goodnight everyone...

Ignorance Burns

We've been drinking water the whole trip and then I remembered I bought V8. I take one and offer it to grandma. We both finish our cans and say in unison

That was really spicy...

Come to find out I didn't buy the original and now were laughing with burned throats.

Iowa

We've made it to Iowa!!!

The ride has gone very smoothly so far and the time is going by fast...

No complaints here!

The beautiful view in Iowa right now...

We just saw this leaving the World's Largest Truck Stop.

Moments later Amy stepped into a pile of dog doodoo...

Hilarious.

We're on the road again having a great time and still enjoying our salty snacks.

Wait before I go I have to show you my view one more time—

Car Fun

Amy is driving and I started reading a book out loud to the both of us. We're reading the perks of being a wallflower which is a fantastic book. We have both seen the movie about this book and it is just giving us even more detail.

We're also currently on the outskirts of Chicago, IL in a small traffic jam of some sort. During this down time we're digging into the snacks we packed including Grandma's homemade chex mix.

Well it seems the traffic jam is now moving...

We will keep posting updates!

WE'RE OFF

We're out to a good start by leaving a little earlier than planned! The car is packed with food and wide-awake drivers ready for our 10 hour drive to Lincoln, Nebraska.

We're praying for safe travels and hope we can make it at an even earlier time than expected. We will keep you posted!

Countdown: Two Days till Departure

I can't believe we're leaving in two days...

It seemed just like yesterday that the trip was still a few months off and now it's here! We are both anxious and excited in the planning and packing process.

We're praying for safe travels and hoping we don't forget anything we might potentially need...
